Opening of IDeeJazz

IDeeJazz’16’s warm-up act will begin at the hotel Lydia and will move on to the ID-jazzclub bar “Illegaard”. The brightest youth jazz performers of Tartu will be performing:

The festival’s club will be open in the evenings, following the festival’s main program!
In the evenings, after the festival’s main program, the festival’s club aka ID-jazzclub will be open at Tartu’s legendary bar Illegaard! The mellow jam stage will be up and running on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (10th, 11th and 12th of November) beginning at 21:00. Free admission.
Enver Izmaylov’s master class

A master class that can’t be skipped by any rhythm or folk music hobbyist! The legendary guitar virtuoso and inventor of the tapping technique in the Soviet Union – Enver Izmaylov will be in person at Eller College to share his musical language and secrets of his playing technique!
Dino Saluzzi’s master class

In addition to the concert experience, IDeeJazz gives an opportunity to meet face to face with a musician who has influenced the world’s music a lot, Dino Saluzzi, at a master class at Eller College. The 81-year-old maestro, who is visiting Estonia for the first time, will share his unique experiences of the general perception of music and about the play of bandoneon.
Rhythm school with pancakes!

Reigo Ahven’s rhythm school for children, with pancakes! The stress-free trip to Africa and back, which is already a tradition in IDeeJazz, will take place this year too. Ahven, the guide of the rhythm safari, will this time lead everyone to Ghana and will explore the jazz music’s most primeval source – the bembe rhythm. Registration to the rhythm school is not necessary. Come and enjoy! Smaller children should come with their parents. After the rhythm school everyone can enjoy pancakes! 🙂
The rhythm school will be followed by a thrilling concert by the collective Land of Drum!
Land of Drum

Land of Drum are a growing folk music group, who’s music sources are the rhythms and sounds of ancient cultures, which surround us. The trio uses a variety of Indian and Asian traditional percussion instruments and mixes them with confidence with electronic sounds of guitars.
